One of my favorite clients was in last week and she was looking for a new color to try. We found an amazing color that is sort of like mauve, with purple and pink undertones, yet it looks like brown. As you can see from the photograph it looks great on her nails. We looked on the bottom of the bottle and there was no label. It’s an OPI color, but we have no idea of its name. So we called it the mystery color.
Lately a lot of my clients have been in the mood for purple polish. It is definitely one of the hot colors this season. Looks great with just about anything too! OPI has some great purple choices. One of my favorite clients was in recently and she opted for We’ll Always Have Paris which is a deep dark plum. Other purple favorites include Lincoln Park After Dark, Show It & Glow It, Diva of Geneva, and Royal Rajah Ruby. In the mood? Go for it!
Too bad they couldn’t do it at home, but I’m thrilled that San Francisco Giants won the World Series. My little boy and I enjoyed watching the games each evening. Nothing like some son and mother bonding over baseball. Can’t wait for spring training to begin next year and have my San Francisco Giants playing at Scottsdale Stadium, just two blocks from the salon. I’m sure tickets will go fast this year.
Can you believe it? The San Francisco Giants won the National League Championship and they are playing in the World Series! I’m so excited! It’s so much fun to attend their spring training games at Scottsdale Stadium. Looking forward to seeing them win the World Series against the Texas Rangers. I know what I’ll be doing Wednesday evening!
OPI has a new line of shades inspired by the upcoming movie Burlesque starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. I have the entire collection of 12 nail lacquers of the most gorgeous glitters and shimmers I have ever seen. Recently, one of my favorite clients was in for a manicure and she chose a beautiful fuchsia shimmer called Let Me Entertain You. It was gorgeous on her. This collection will be great for the holidays, including Halloween, or to add a little sparkle to your everyday attire.

Wednesday, September 29, 9 AM to 6 PM at Applause Salon.
We are honoring our Medical Angels with complementary services. Whether you run the hospital or a medical office, or clean the floors and empty the trash, this day is about honoring you. Just bring your medical ID and we will provide complementary haircuts/styles, mini manicures/medical manicures, chair massages and eyebrow waxing.
Finally! The Farmer’s Market returns to our corner, across the street from the salon, October 23rd. I understand there will be many new vendors and events. Every Saturday from 8:30 AM until 1 PM and free underground parking is available.
The latest offering from OPI is their Swiss collection for fall and winter. These colors are rich and have great coverage. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some cool hues. Just thinking about the icy Alps makes me shiver. These colors look luxurious and feature jeweled tones from ruby reds to shimmering gold and icy shades of green and teal.
For your next appointment ask for the Swiss collection!
The husband of one of my favorite clients was a top rock ‘n roll DJ back in the 1960s here in Phoenix Metro. He came in for a manicure recently and we had a great time. Norm Seeley has many stories to tell about his days as a rock ‘n roll DJ. I especially enjoyed hearing about the time Lesley Gore, of “It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To” fame, insisted on riding in Norm’s yellow Corvette instead of the limousine waiting at the airport to take her to the concert venue.

He and several others known as the KRUX “Good Guys” from the 1960s and 1970s will be reminiscing about their history this Saturday at the first-ever KRUX DJ reunion. You can read all about it in the Scottsdale Republic. As you can see from this photo, Norm’s hands look great after receiving my nail goddess treatment.
My family and I have not taken a vacation yet this year, but I certainly have dreamed about where I’d like to go. Somewhere on the beach is always nice. Don’t you just love walking on sand? It’s actually quite good for your feet. The sand’s natural abrasiveness exfoliates your feet smoothing away calluses and dry skin. And, as your toes grip the sand, you’re toning up your legs and derrière.
If you want that same experience without going to the beach, come in for a pedicure. I always use terrific scrubs on your feet that contain sugar crystals and other natural ingredients to keep your feet looking and feeling fantastic. While I massage your feet just lean back and pretend you’re at the beach. Be sure and send me a postcard.
